Am I Pregnant?
Pregnancy symptoms are not always the same for each woman. They can be different in different women and different in each of her pregnancies. The most obvious and significant pregnancy symptom is a missed period. Some women may begin having pregnancy symptoms shortly after conception. For others, pregnancy symptoms may develop over a few weeks or may not even be present at all. In addition to a missed period, some common signs of pregnancy can include swollen and tender breasts; fatigue or tiredness; nausea, vomiting, or morning sickness; headaches or backache; and frequent urination.
It is possible to have one or more of the above symptoms without them necessarily being related to pregnancy. That's why it is important if you have been sexually active and are experiencing any of the above symptoms, to take a pregnancy test and confirm a positive result with an ultrasound. HPC's trained medical professionals perform ultrasounds under the direction of our Medical Director to confirm pregnancy after a positive pregnancy test performed at our center. An ultrasound will determine the location of the pregnancy, provide the gestational age of the pregnancy, and validate the viability of the pregnancy by confirming the presence or absence of a fetal heart rate. An ultrasound can also detect the possibility of an ectopic pregnancy, which is a life-threatening condition where the fetus is growing outside the uterus and requires emergency medical attention.
